'Code Blue' Cold Weather Emergency Issued In Montgomery County | Norristown, PA Patch

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Montgomery County officials have issued a 'Code Blue' cold weather emergency alert that will run through Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. due to the frigid forecast.

The Montgomery County Commissioners, on advice of public safety officials, declared the cold weather emergency beginning Nov. 17 at 9 .m. and running through early next week. Inverter Price

During the time of the emergency declaration, temperatures or the wind chill is expected to be below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, county officials stated in an announcement.

The commissioners said that a 'Code Blue' weather declaration is issued when winter conditions pose a serious threat of health harm or death to those individuals who have no shelter.

The board reminded Montgomery County residents who are in need of shelter that they can call the Your Way Home Call Center at 2-1-1 or text their zip code to 898-211 if they need assistance with a place to stay during the time period covered by the dangerous cold weather forecast.

County officials stressed the importance of checking on elderly friends, relatives and neighbors frequently throughout the period covered by the 'Code Blue' alert to ensure their homes are adequately heated.

Other tips offered by the county include making sure your vehicles are winterized, checking smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, wearing appropriate clothing when outdoors and limiting the amount of time pets are kept outside the home.
